1- ¿Por qué la administración del inventario de piezas es tan importante en Southwest Airlines? ¿Qué procesos de negocios se ven afectados por la capacidad o incapacidad de la aerolinea de tener piezas requeridas a la mano?
Porque si el inventario
esta incorrecto o tiene faltantes afecta las parte productiva de la aerolínea,
a sus clientes y por ende la parte financiera de la empresa.
Las áreas afectadas son:
- Servicio al cliente.
- Ventas
- Taller
- Financiera
2- ¿Por qué los factores
de administración, organización y tecnología fueron responsables de los
problemas de Southwest con la administración del inventario?
La administración estaba
fallando en la parte de planeación y verificación de procesos, ya que el
inventario de repuestos se encontraba con faltantes y los procesos de
reabastecimiento de inventario no era el adecuado, sumado a eso la plataforma tecnológica
que tenían estaba obsoleta.
Porque la administración
ni la organización no lograban tener un proceso de inventario adecuado debido a
la tecnología obsoleta que tenian.
3- ¿Cómo cambio la implementación
del software i2 la forma en que Southwest realizaba negocios?
Los cambios fueron muy
positivos ya que la empresa logro solucionar el problema de los inventarios y ubicación
de los repuestos y con esto se disminuyó el problema de tener aviones en el
taller y no contar con los repuestos.
4- Describa 2 decisiones
que se mejoraron mediante la implementacion del sistema i2.
- El reabastecimiento de su almacén de piezas mediante el sistema: I2 Service Parts Planner, permitiendo asegurar que el inventario se encontraba acorde a las necesidades de la empresa.
- La planeación de demanda de piezas futura mediante el sistema: I2 Budget Optimizer, permitiendo realizar un análisis histórico sobre el uso de las piezas para poder generar pronósticos del uso de estas en el futuro.
